Friday evening was the First Official Marvelous Summer Evening Spent in Harrison. A lofty and pretentious title, I know, but an event that truly (in my opinion) necessitates such a name. You’ll see, if all goes well, evidence of many such evenings enjoyed here throughout the coming summer months.

“Yesterday, when I was young…” was often how my Dad would, and still does, start the telling of a story of his youth. When I was a kid of 7, 10…18 (?!?) years old, I thought this was the most ludicrous thing ever! I mean seriously, yesterday? Hardly! My dad was an ancient 40 years old...

It’s so curious how the memories of his delivery and birth are so vivid that it seems like he was born only a year or two ago, and yet in other ways it seems like he’s been around for ever. I can’t imagine how life even was before he joined our family at 12:42...

While my kids sometimes need to be told (rather vehemently) “Go and PLAY!!!” other times they can be lost for hours in their own imaginative minds. Being chickens, for instance…hiding in our field from a mean and wily fox. Or doing somersaults and cart-wheels through the long clover and buttercups. So wonderfully childish and carefree…
What a productive/sunny/fun/busy week(end)! Which is why you’ve not heard from me since Tuesday. I won’t bore you by driveling on about all the work that was done in and around my house this week…I’ll just skip to some of the good stuff! :)
