This session was the last of the (very busy!!) season. 

Because there was a new baby to consider, we had to find an indoor location to shoot at; the Harrison Hotel worked marvelously!  Tons of different backdrops, lots of natural light in spots, great Christmassy ambiance, plus a cute family…perfection.  :)

PS. I should really give a shout out to Atmosphere Floors for the wonderful flooring you see in the pictures – - those lovely carpeted stairs & sitting areas are installed by Atmosphere! ;)  They are the Harrison Hotel’s go-to flooring company and should be yours too! ;)

Daddy and Mommy, two adorable twins + a baby due in the spring.

I had such a great time taking these pictures this past weekend…I got my exercise too, running after these two active little chicks.  Sarah said “thanks for the easy-peasy photoshoot” - – well right back atcha guys! ;)

First we spent a bit of time down at the Fraser River…

Then we captured a bit of Canadian pride, before heading off to the park to let the girls play…

Can’t say it was on purpose or anything, but I’m rather fond of the way the blue clothes really pop against the orange leaves and the brick.  I’m rather fond of the peeps in the pics as well; they’re more family of mine. :)

At long last the stars, the weather, our schedules aligned and I was able to ’capture’ this family – technically 1 year late, since we’ve been trying since last November, which was when Jeff and Joleen celebrated their 15th anniversary!

Personally, I’m kinda glad it worked out this way, since we’ve had the most gorgeous fall ever this year, and this was the perfect location to show off nature’s fabulous colour.  Great location scouting Joleen! :)

I had a great time shooting you guys…I hope you can say the same!  :)  {I hear from reliable sources that Jeff thought it wasn’t as agonizing as he’d anticipated – high praise indeed! ;) haha}

Angela told me that “the Vedder River is a beautiful place and it has great memories for us. We love going [there] to go for a walk or bike ride.  Katie used to love swimming in the river and diving for rocks but since she has become older and ill she no longer can enjoy the things she loved to do.”

Katie is the Weeks’ family dog, who sadly needed to be put down a couple weeks ago, due to cancer and old age.  Angela and Jeff wanted a family session to capture all the fun that they’ve had at the river with their children and furry friend.

So off we went for a stroll down the dike:

And then down to the river, where the kids had fun throwing rocks into the water and Katie dove for some colossal rocks!

I was so happy to hear from Leanne, when she contacted me a few weeks ago to set up a session…and was delighted that we were able to do the shoot just two days later.  I shot her and her two adorable little girls last year, when the youngest was just born…and it’s always fun to see how the kids’ve grown and changed. 

I love their outfit choices – as you know, I’m a big fan of bright and bold colour!  Brian’s one request was to shoot in a wide open space with a light and airy feeling.  I think these pictures fit that description:

Then we headed down toward the river among the trees, and finally gave the girls their lolly-pops that we’d been using as bribes (hey, whatever it takes!) the whole session. ;)

This session is the product of a crazy dream – or inspiration – that I had on Monday night on the way to bed.  I laid awake planning, scheming.  The right side of my brain kicking into over-drive…

I shot these pictures the following afternoon, after spending the whole day shopping for just the right props and clothes to go with the couch that started the whole idea in the first place! :)  Luckily, African safari prints are the ‘in thing’ right now in clothes and decor, and so coming up with the giraffe print tables, a cheetah print skirt, etc. wasn’t difficult at all.  I was also lucky that my kids were, for once, totally into me taking their pictures, and were quite excited to dress up and head off into the Serengeti for their shoot. ;)

I know these are images we’ll treasure for a life-time.

20 years:  7300 days ago today, my bro and sis-in-law tied the knot.  I was very delighted – and honoured - to be asked to take their family pictures last month: to capture them, their 5 kids, and their love. 

I instantly had the entire shoot laid out in my head: (ok, I admit, I had it all worked out before Linda even asked!) I envisioned their family on a dock, at their Kawkawa Lake house; and then in their boat, hair whipping in the wind…capturing the essence of summer.  So…I’m not gonna lie, when a session works out exactly like I’d planned, hoped and dreamed, I get kinda excited.  Like as in thrilled. 

These were shot 2 days into fall…but with the brilliant sunshine and warm water, it sure felt like mid-summer!  We started at 9:00 am.  I put on my bathing suit and plunged in, waist deep to get these captures on the dock.  Thanks for trusting my artistic vision guys! :)   ”you want the couch out here? sure, no problem!”

This picture above needs to be blown up BIG.  Couldn’t you just dive right in?!?

Before heading off in the boat, we took a stroll down the road in front of their house…

The Camerawoman Who Dared.  Yup, that’s me. ;)   To get this shot below, I had to stand straight up on the dash (if that’s what you call it on a boat?!) by the windshield, and not holding onto anything, snap away while cruising along at a rather rapid speed!  I’d have to say the results were worth the danger – it’s another one that I’d blow up big, if I were them! :)  That one, and the one of Jake and Linda laying in the front of the boat, with blue sparkling water all around.  Love. 

I could have shared about twice as many, but then you’d be here all day waiting for the pics to load on your computer…and I’m trying to practise some self-restraint. ;)

I love shooting family!  I captured my bro & sis-in-law and their family picnicking and playing in the sunshine a few weeks ago.  I’m rather fond of the yellow glow enveloping this session.  Envisioning these hanging on Annette’s sunny yellow walls makes me happy. ;)

The grass was such a vivid green, the sky a brilliant blue…only 2.5 weeks ago, but from where I sit today, surrounded in a dark, wet grey, it feels like three months.  So thankful I was able to capture this family again in the sunshine. 

Frank and Crystal are cousins of mine, and we took these pictures at their place about 2km up the road from mine.  It’d been two years since I’d shot them and it was, as ever, a pleasure!  I’m sure you’ll never find seven more well behaved kids!  :)
