My kids clamor all winter long about how bored they are, there’s nothing to do/play with (to which I threaten to bring all their many toys to a thrift store), how they want to play outside (in the pouring rain) etc….and now that summer’s golden days are here, they want nothing more than to do this:

Jaedah’s Polly Pockets have re-captured her interest, and Liam’s been coloring pirates for hours…that is, when he’s not watching and listening to Jaedah’s wild and tall tales in Polly Land. He’s just like me in that regard: I used to be content to watch my sister Trish play barbies and listen to her fabricate dramatic and romantic lives for all our dolls too. When storm clouds gather on the horizon, they’ll be clamoring for the sandbox again! ;)
And, we just (thankfully) finished swimming lessons today too. Whewph, heading out every day at 8:30am just totally throws your whole day outta whack. Jaedah began complaining of sore ears last Saturday, and a trip to the walk-in-clinic on Monday (and again on Wednesday) confirmed that they both have swimmer’s ear…but Jade’s case is so bad that her ears are bleeding (and worse) every night. Jaedah missed 3 days of lessons due to the fact that her ears hurt way too badly to put plugs in, but thankfully she passed her lessons anyway…and hopefully they’ll be cleared up soon so she can enjoy her favorite pass-time once again!

And if Jade and Liam’s sore ears aren’t wretched enough…what really kinda sucks is that a very generous bro of Eric’s offered that we could borrow his motor-home for this week…and we weren’t able to use it. We had grand plans of heading down to Cannon Beach, Oregon for a relaxing week on the beach, riding horses, and biking on the sand….but….there wasn’t a singe (decent) campground available for 3 nights from here to California. Trust me, I know, since I spent all of Tuesday online and making calls trying to arrange a campsite! :P Hmph. Maybe next year we’ll have to be more on the ball and try plan something earlier than the day before we plan to leave. :) Who knew that camping was so popular?! Here’s a pic from the last time we were down there, summer 2005.

On the possitive side, however, this lack of road-trip means that our back deck is getting tiled as I type and it’s looking phenominal, thanks to my talented husband. :)
Happy Weekend! Enjoy this amazing weather!
