I must confess I’m not known for my culinary works of art. Sure, I can cook a good and tasty meal…but cooking isn’t what I’d call my favorite part of the day, by any means. And as for baking – forget it – doesn’t happen at all…unless you count those frozen balls of cookie dough that just need to be put on baking trays, or those Pillsbury cinnamon rolls that come in a tube?? Hmmm, probably not.
Having said that, I do work hard in my kitchen. I was rather oblivious to the dirty dinner dishes and pans lining the counter as I worked to capture these visual works of art. Like these apple blossoms that my aunt brought over as part of a tulip/daffodil bouquet. (I’m so glad she did too – I LOVE apple blossoms, and our tree doesn’t bloom for another few weeks.) Or these mini-tulips (that a client brought over when she picked up her picture CD) nodding gently in the balmy evening breeze coming through the open window. Or glittering, star-like mist coming off the blasting water tap (see?! I was in the process of doing the dishes.) Utterly splendid though, I thought.

And these are part of a do-over for my Unit 2 NYIP course – more beauty served up from my kitchen. I didn’t have to redo the assignment, but I think it was less than satisfactory. I submitted my unit 2 pictures 2 years ago (yes, I’ve been working on this course for 3 years – it HAS to be done next month!), and I feel that my photography has come a long way artistically and technically since, so…I’m redoing my “perspective” (making the main subject dominate the photo, and look larger than the secondary subjects) assignment:

Now if only I could serve these photos on some fine china with a sprig or two of garnish on the side…Viola! Dinner is served. Enjoy! :)
