If yesterday evening had a sound track, it would have sounded like this: Jon Schmidt’s Love Story Taylor Swift meets Viva La Vida Coldplay . (listen to it if you’re able to…even if you’ve heard it before – it’s AMAZING!!) And then there was this:
“Mommy, I think I want to be a photographer when I grow up!”
“Mommy, do you ever have it that you just can’t stop taking pictures because everthing looks so pretty?”
“Mommy, come and see the light inside this tree…it’s so golden and gorgeous!”
Music to my ears. Not only was my camera’s shutter clicking in rapid-fashion….my heart’s shutter was too. The way Jaedah was laying in the grass, getting down low, trying to get good shots of the back-lit clover – clearly she’s seen her mom in action many times – made my heart sing. I bought her a digital under/out of water camera yesterday at Winners, and she’s in love…and at least now she won’t always be begging me to use my camera, or Eric’s phone. I look forward to seeing what’s she’s captured. She suggested that “maybe you could put some of my pictures on your blog too Mommy!” and I love that idea, and look forward to doing so. :)
And she was right, the light inside the hazelnut tree (you’re able to step right inside a little clearing) was divine. I’d actually noticed it myself on Thursday night when I was mowing the lawn…it was as if the light from the setting sun was a tangible thing; like liquid gold, with the little bugs dancing in the balmy air being diamonds… and the thought crossed my mind “if that light could be bottled, it’d be priceless!” Such utter splendor – a visual feast!
Our photo shoot began with me shooting this sunflower, and carried on to wherever the last golden rays were lying low in the grass.
Meanwhile Liam was completely enthralled with his new remote-control truck; building ramps for it to jump off, driving it up and down the driveway and curbs…smashing it into things, of course, in typical boy fashion.

And when I came inside, and looked at these pictures on my computer, my heart nearly burst with nature’s beauty, my children’s sweet and innocent joyous faces, and the thought: I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER! Love doing what I do, and my family. xo
